Samsung Galaxy S8: First look at home screen and new icons

Samsung appears to be struggling to keep a lid on rumours and leaks about its imminent Galaxy S8, after a series of images appeared online showing the device’s home screen, launcher and icons for the first time.

The tweaked displays include more rounded icons in the app drawer and on the launch screen, offering a more subtle, less blocky approach than on previous versions of Samsung’s Galaxy UX.

With no physical home button on the Galaxy S8 or S8+, there is more screen real estate to play with, making the display look less cluttered.

Samsung is set to use Android 7.0 Nougat on its new flagship smartphones, but as ever is making tweaks to ensure it looks more in line with its own design language,

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are not due to launch until 29th March. However, at the current rate of a new rumour per day, it’s likely that come the end of the month there will be little left to learn at the company’s hyped event in New York.

Recent gossip includes talk of a greater emphasis on iris and facial recognition and plans for a 10th April pre–order date.
